Bible Reading Commitment, Encouragement, and Challenge
November 14 – Psalm 129-131, Amos 4, 1 Chronicles 22, 1 Peter 5
Observe with some (Interpretation in Parentheses)
- Focusing on 1 Peter 5
- If, somehow you were lost in a wild jungle known for its fierce, carnivorous lions, how would you live differently than your normal day-to-day life?
- Well, 1 Peter 5:8 tells us – “Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.”
- In this world, we do have an adversary
- And, he wants to devour us
- And, he is prowling around hungry
How Points to Christ
- Praise God for Jesus Christ whom the devil sought to devour as well
- But, Jesus Christ is our conquering king who defeated the devil at the cross
- And in Christ, we have power to stand firm and resist the devil
- And, the devil’s greatest weapon – death has been defeated because in Christ, we are given His righteousness as He took on our sin and paid for them on the cross
Apply
- Please pray that I would remember this truth
- Please pray that I would be sober-minded and watchful
