Bible Reading Commitment, Encouragement, and Challenge
October 31 – Luke 17-18
Observe with some (Interpretation in Parentheses)
- There is a lot in these chapters that could be meditated on!
- In the story of the ten lepers that were cleansed, it is remarkable that only ONE returned to give thanks and praise God
- And he was a Samaritan – a “foreigner” to “God’s people”
- In response, Jesus told him, “Your faith has made you well.”
- (In line with the rest of the Gospels, it is clear that Jesus is talking about spiritual health, being made well of sins)
- (There are two areas of healing, physical and spiritual)
- (The other 9 lepers were healed physically, but their greatest need was not addressed)
- (The one who praised God was healed both physically and spiritually)
- (A mark of a true follower of Christ is loving HIM, not simply His blessings)
How Points to Christ
- Jesus Christ heals by taking on our infirmities on the cross
Apply
- Please pray that my life would be characterized by rejoicing and joy
- And please pray that I would treasure and delight infinitely more in Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior than the blessings He gives.
